Another long week...to end with a NEW Action Research Plan

Well, this week has yet again been eventful.  I am definitely learning about flexibility. Upon going in to meet with my site supervisor to get the "okay" to go ahead with my original ARP, she mentioned that she had just received notification and feedback from the district.  We were needing to conduct literature research and come up with a proposal for a new reading/ELA program to be used in the classrooms (K-3).  Based on her discussion, she requested that I change my ARP to conduct research to find the best fit program to use.  I was hesitant and overwhelmed by the thought of having to make this change...considering I had spent the entire week before writing a completely different ARP.  All that being said, I sat down and created my NEW ARP.  Please see below and feel free to make comments, suggestions, etc.

Here's to week 5

  1. WOW! It is terrible to have to start over, but this is excellent. Hopefully someone else will give better feedback than I am able to offer. It seems you have a lot of support and they have great confidence in you. I think your timeline looks great as well as your action steps and methods of evaluation. If I was going to offer any improvements I would probably include a step to present final conclusions with teachers using the program. You gather a lot of info from them, but how are you going to disseminate your findings? The teachers might want to know your conclusions too.

    1. Thank you Sharon. I was actually going back and forth with myself trying to decide if I should add that step. Well, you sealed my thoughts. Thanks for the feedback.

  2. Great plan, nicely organized. You have steps to compare different classrooms which will give you some good information. Surveying the students to gain feedback always beneficial since they are key stakeholders. So sorry you had to completely start over! Good luck on your new project!

  3. Hey, I love how you are implementing the plan in one classroom and not in another. You will be able to see the difference your plan will make. I think reading is a huge key when it comes to student success. Great job. Looks put together well from my perspective. Good Luck

  4. WOW!! That's horrible that you had to start all over but I think you have a good solid topic that has alot of research and literature to back it. One step you may consider adding is contacting school districts or schools that are recognized and or exemplary schools, and see what ELA/reading program they use that they have found successful.

  5. Oh my new friend...I am sorry you had to start over! But your plan looks great. As mentioned above, I would present the information to your fellow teachers, especially if they are going to have to use it in the future. You will be the expert to them. When you go to your training this summer could you collaborate with others that are there? Maybe add this as a step? Good luck! Let me know if you need any help.
